Jingle bells

It has been a while since my last post! The other Gulbenkian Craft Fair came just before Christmas, it went ok, but there were so many quiet moments followed by rushes of people that the day did feel incredibly long. I sold a bit from my stall, but not much. It was lovely to spend the day with my mum though who had the stall next to mine and sold a lot more than me!

Christmas was lovely. The kids are such great ages to enjoy it, 5 and nearly 3. We all got lots of great presents, ate lots of yummy food, drank too much and a lovely time was had by all!

I will leave you with a picture of a leaf shaped very much like an angel that D and I found whilst out for a little scoot on the scooters the kids got for Christmas.

Have a happy new year !

Wet Whitstable craft fair!

Well, the fair is over and despite a wet and windy Whitstable, we had lots and lots of people through the door!

Everybody seemed to think it went well, I was too much of a nervous wreck to enjoy it all until about lunchtime and then I had a great time. I was told by lots of the stallholders that they had a really good time and the atmosphere in the hall was lovely.
Here are few pictures to show you what you missed if you couldn't make it and a big thank you to everybody that did brave the rain and made it along! I forgot to take one of my stall!

Cool crafty folk!

Phew! It has been a while since I last blogged. I have been so busy organising two craft fairs and trying to make some stock for them that I haven't had time for much else. Oh, apart from a dose of flu that we all had in our house last week. Not very pleasant, but we are all just about fighting fit again now.

Last week I managed to get some of the stallholders together who are taking part in the November 29th fair at St Mary's Hall, Whitstable. I thought it would be good to try and get a picture of some of the gorgeous stock made and some of the clever people who have made them!

They were all professionally shot, I have you know, by photographer Andrew Hayes Watkins - the husband of Suki one of the stallholders and maker of gorgeous crocheted bunting!Hopefully the local papers will print this pic, or one of me with all the stock eek! I would prefer not to be in the paper on my own but the one of me does show the stock really well! Will have to wait and see if they use them.

Another year older...

I was 35 on Thursday - 35! how is that possible. I still feel as if I am about 25 and look like I am about 45, so I guess my real age is in the middle there. I got some lovely treats for my birthday, including the following reads.
I thought Sew Hip was a really good read, I treated myself to that one and L got me Sew Pretty Homestyle which makes me itching to make some of the gorgeous, gorgeous things inside.
But alas, I am so busy organising 2 craft fairs that I haven't had time to read them properly yet as I am busy making things for my stall like these...
Whilst I have been trying to do some sewing, D has decided she wants to be a dancer. She loves prancing around in my old pink ballet leotard (can't believe my mum kept it! well done mum!) that I wore when I went to ballet when I was little, and these gold glittery ballet slippers that I got at an NCT sale! Bless her sequined feet!

Stripping!

I have just spent the whole weekend stripping....................the awful, awful wallpaper in our lounge/dining room that I have hated for the last 4 years since we lived in our little house!
And now, it is finally gone. How awful was it? Well, it was a brown cork tile 'effect' (yes, I said effect, it was not even real cork tiles) wallpaper and the most hideous thing ever!
I wish I had a digital camera to post a pic of it in all it's horrible glory, but I don't at the moment so you will just have to take my word for it.

Funny to think bare, patchy, marked, walls could look so lovely and make me feel so calm.........

Ohhh, this is a bit strange but here we go...

this is my blog! Welcome to Simply H.
I have loved reading so many blogs by lots of clever and crafty people over the last year and have decided to go ahead and write my own.
I am not sure I will have much time to write this, but I am going to try at least once a week to add something (when I get the hang of it!).
Not a very long first post, but hey at least I wrote something!
